Walking in September

September was all about West Virginia.

In West Virginia the American Discovery Trail ventures through what might be called the "amazement park" of eastern America. Many trails offer scenic vistas, pastoral settings, stirring waterfalls, and botanical diversification, while rivers provide for whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing and sternwheel pleasures. There are also caves for underground exploring; cliffs for climbing; and friendly people to assure success in your trekking adventures. Plus, the mystique of the of Civil War-era tunnels and the local legends of the trail add to West Virginia's assets for a multifaceted outdoor visit.

My goal was an ambitious 60 miles and I was pleasantly surprised when I totaled up the numbers and saw that I actually walked 57.75 miles in September!

I have about 132 miles left to the border of Ohio. I've set October's goal again at 60 miles.

I have walked a total of 467.92 miles on this trail and have 4580.08 left to go. Wouldn't it be beautiful to walk the actual trail in the fall?

  1. We are doing a challenge like this at work, from the west coast of Florida down to the Keys. I have a nifty little chart to log my miles :) Great job getting so many miles in September!
