Wreck this Journal #13

It's been awhile since we took a peek into this journal. There are a few pages that I'm working on, but here are three for you to see.

I let the Washi tape be the "pattern".
There's room for more so I will probably add to it.

Not very exciting, but easy enough.
Just for fun I added the receipt on the left.

Wreck this Journal #12

When I first read this page a great idea came to mind immediately. I had been outside watering plants and noticed that everything on the deck was covered in a thin layer of yellow. "I'll rub it in the pollen!"

On second thought, this might not be the best idea. Everytime I open the book pollen might get stirred up. But since I'm not allergic to pollen I went ahead with the plan.

The page got scratched and it picked up some of the paint color, but the pollen didn't really stick to the page at all. So much for my "yellow page" idea.

Wreck this Journal #11

This page was pretty easy, after I got over ripping it out. Confession: I uncrumppled it and saved it for some random note that needs just a little slip of paper.

We don't get a newspaper, but we do get several coupon pages and sales flyers in the mail. This is a page from the Harbor Freight ad. See my attempt at being "wild" by cutting the corner diagonally? LOL

I scratched this page with a screwdriver.

Wreck this Journal #9

I'm ambidextrous so this wasnt too hard. I do a lot of things left handed. I write mostly with my right, but if that hand is busy or hurting (which it does often due to an injury) I'll use my left. There is definitely a difference in the writing.  I don't think the left is very neat and not at all pretty, but it is legible.

Wreck this Journal #8

I don't doodle while on the phone much. But when I do, it's usually circles repeated over and over. I do the grapes a lot.

I recently took an interest in zentangles, and I've been practicing a little,  but I don't think I'm any good at doodles.

Wreck this Journal #7

I started out using a tape runner, but the links kept "popping" open. So I switched to scotch tape and had to go back over the ones I'd already done.

This little craft reminded me of the really neat chains we used to make out of gum wrappers in high school.

Wreck this Journal #5

The pages I did this week weren't too stressful. I think if the color page had been an actual picture of something it would have been harder to color outside the lines. I colored my hand just to bring things back "in line". LOL

Wreck this Journal #4

Accepting that it's ok to tear up this book is hard, but I have to admit, it's kind of fun. It's definitely providing some laughs.

This week in R's book the page said "chew on this page". And he did!  I chose a page that required me to tear it out of the book.

We had fun kicking it around the kitchen for awhile. And then....

Buddy wanted to play! He took off with the "golf ball" and tore it up and turned it into a slobbery mess. LOL

And because Buddy had a piece if paper,  Christmas wanted one too. You can see her shredded mess in the first picture. They love tearing up paper when given permission to do so. We have never had a problem with them chewing on anything unless we tell them they can. Pepper on the other hand, thinks they are nuts and never chews on paper!

Wreck this Journal #3

This week I did a few of the more (slightly) "destructive" pages in my journal .

First up was this coffee page. After the first couple drips, I checked the back and noticed it was bleeding through to the next page. It was getting coffee on a non-coffee page! I have to admit that at that point I put a paper towel behind the page to protect the following page. LOL  I know..... the point is to not care about things like that.  I'm just not there yet.

The next page is the one right behind the coffee page. See the drips?

As I'm posting this I realize that I didn't poke any holes outside of the guides. Maybe I should go back and do that?

The final page this week is a sewing page.

I wanted my stitches to be neat and in a straight line. Paper is not forgiving when you put the needle in the wrong place. See the holes?

And just for fun....the back.

Wonder what crazy things I'll do next week? Be sure to come back and see.

Wreck this Journal #2

As hard as it was to rub dirt in my journal,  I think it's only going to get harder. So I chose pretty easy pages this time.

This week I cracked the spine!
I just bent it back once, so I'm sure it will get worse as the year goes on.

I also filled in the four letter word page. I tried really hard to make it sloppy and random.

I don't cuss, so it's full of nice four letter words LOL .

The last page this week was easy, just added a page number.

I feel like this week was pretty mild and not too hard. But oh my goodness, wait until you see next week!

Wreck this journal - #1

For Christmas I received a Wreck this Journal by Keri Smith. The point of this journal is to tear it up, get it dirty, let go of your perfectionism. R knew this would be a challenge for me.

I thought it would be fun to share with you my journey through this book.

First, I photographed it's brand new, pristine condition.

And then gently opened it to the first page, writing my name. Not too bad, I write pretty neat. I couldn't get my white gel pen to write, so the first one was written in silver. It's hard to see.

Next, I made my own rule and colored in the instructions.

Yesterday was the first official "hard one".

I took some dirt from a flower pot and rubbed it on the page.  It felt wrong, LOL.  It made a mess, it pushed my buttons. Yep......he knew I'd struggle with this journal!

But to ease my suffering just a little, he also got one for Christmas and is working through it with me. His is different and we aren't doing the same things and he had no problem cutting holes in his cover yesterday!

December Vision Board

I've never made a vision board before,  but I've been thinking about adding one monthly to my journal next year. So I thought I'd practice in December to see how it turned out and if I'd really like it or not. Usually collages of things drive my OCD  brain crazy.

I included the typical holiday stuff like a tree, food and of course National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation movie. But I want to focus on family, friends, my pets and our home. Also as a good reminder to take care of me, I added the exercise photos. I love the quote "live better now". We should never put off self care, NOW is the time to take care of you!

Have you ever made a vision board? Did you enjoy it? Did it help motivate you? If not, have you ever considered making one and do you think it would help you?  We'll see if it's something I can get into or not.
